Faces Behind The Fiber: David & Russell McGuire

Tell us a little about your background and what led you to NOVOS FiBER? 

David: I’ve been working in the fiber optics and engineering field for 10 years, picked it up once I graduated college. I moved here from South Dakota to be closer to my family and found NOVOS looking for construction help. I find it to be a God send and have been so happy since I’ve joined this team. 

Russell: I have been working in fiber optics for about 2 and half years. What led me to join NOVOS is the amazing team and the great environment that David would talk about on a daily basis to me after work hours and that is when I knew I had to jump onboard.

What do you enjoy most about your role at NOVOS FiBER? 

David: One of the things I enjoy best about NOVOS is how friendly and close we all are. We wear a lot of hats here and aren't afraid to help one another to complete a common goal of putting the customer first.  ‍

Russell: What I enjoy the most about my role is being a team player. I get the opportunity to see potential customers right from the start of the construction and explain in detail how our product works. It is not just better in pricing, per mbps, but with direct fiber you do not get toggled down speeds or interruptions. I also enjoy improving communities with better internet.

What’s the culture like at NOVOS FiBER? 

David/Russell: This is the best company I have worked for in my career. Everyone is a team player; I feel we all fit so well together.

What makes you proud to work for NOVOS FiBER? 

David/Russell: Working at NOVOS and being in the construction field, you literally get to see our build grow from the beginning to the end. There’s something amazing about seeing a product grow from machinery and pipe to a functioning product that makes you smile. Being out in the field, I also get to see and hear customers talk about how happy they are and how happy they are with our product, which makes it all worthwhile.

Outside of work,  how do you like to spend your time? 

David/ Russell: We can both agree that if we can, we can golf whenever we have the opportunity too.  

Any funny brotherly stories?

David: I remember one time growing up, we switched classes in elementary school, and I (pretending to be Russell) was told I have really nice penmanship. Come to find out Russell didn’t even do any of the schoolwork the whole day!

Any fun hobbies or party tricks? 

David: I wish I knew something lol 

Russell: My favorite party trick is, I have the most amazing Irish Good-bye.

The Boss Spilled the Tea…They are passionate about the success of their respective builds, and they lead by example DAILY. Our success in the DFW market is directly related to the municipality and contractor relations they have developed.  Every time I visit city leadership, I hear about what a great job they do for the City….and that makes my old heart happy! When they come into the office, my day is always a bit better because of the energy I get working with them. They are a true asset to NOVOS and my team. Rumor is…they can golf, too.
